Newbury - Fatal accident in Wheatlands Lane - Police appeal for witnesses


Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses after a fatal collision in Newbury on Monday 4th August.

Officers were called to Wheatlands Lane in Enborne shortly after 4am, to reports that a Vauxhall Zafira had left the road and collided with a tree.

A 15-year-old boy, who was a passenger in the car, died at the scene. His next of kin has been informed.

A 16-year-old boy was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital with serious injuries, which will require surgery. He remains in a serious condition.

Two other teenage boys were taken to the Royal Berkshire Hospital with minor injuries.

Investigator Stuart Whitworth from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: "This is a tragic incident involving four young men from the local area.

"I would ask that anyone who saw the vehicle prior to the collision contacts us immediately as you might have vital information which could assist in the investigation."
