Newbury - Offenders threaten to set fire to 12 year old boy in Newbury underpass

Thames Valley Police is appealing for information after an incident of threats to kill in Newbury.

The victim, a 12-year-old boy was walking on the underpass at the junction of Shaw Road and London Road at about 1.10pm on Easter Monday 6 April.

Two boys approached the victim, before spraying him with WD40.

They then produced a lighter and threatened to burn the victim.

Both offenders were aged approximately 12 to 13.

The first offender is short, slim with short brown hair. He was wearing a grey zip-up hooded top and blue chinos. 

The second offender is, stocky, about 5ft 4ins, with dark brown hair which was brushed flat. He was wearing a grey jacket, brown T-shirt and grey tracksuit bottoms. 

The victim sustained minor injuries but did not require hospital treatment.

Investigating officer, PC Colin Fearn, based at Newbury Police Station, said: “This was an unprovoked attack on a young boy during the Easter holidays.

“We are carrying out an extensive investigation to bring the perpetrators to justice but need the help of the public. I would ask anyone who witnessed the incident, anyone who recognises the description of the offenders or has any information to call police on 101.

“I am particularly interested in speaking to a woman and her partner, who we believe were with their children, who may have witnessed the incident and spoke to the offenders.
